The Challenge & Our Approach
THE CHALLENGE
The key challenge was to modernise and expand an existing clinical facility while maintaining continuity of care. The project required significant upgrades to consulting spaces alongside the creation of two fully compliant operating theatres within an underutilised part of the building, all while meeting strict surgical and regulatory requirements.
Our Approach
A phased delivery strategy was adopted to minimise disruption to clinical operations.
Stage One focused on refreshing and upgrading the existing consulting rooms to improve functionality, patient comfort, and clinical presentation, allowing the practice to continue operating while early improvements were delivered efficiently.
Stage Two involved a complete transformation of an underused area of the building. The space was taken back to shell condition and comprehensively redeveloped to create two fully equipped operating theatres—one dedicated to plastic surgery and the other to ophthalmology. This phase included the installation of new clinical infrastructure, air handling units, specialist operating lights, and full electrical and plumbing systems designed to meet surgical and regulatory standards.
Close collaboration with the client and wider delivery team ensured careful planning, robust technical coordination, and effective cost and programme management throughout.
The Outcome
The completed facility is now a thriving ophthalmology and plastic surgery centre, providing outstanding care under the direction of two consultant surgeons. The project has significantly enhanced clinical capability while delivering long-term operational value for the owners, all achieved without interrupting patient care.
